P3 to P5 Blog

This term our topic has been Chocolate which is proving to be very popular and one which lends itself well into all areas of the curriculum.

In the area of Design and Technology the children were challenged to make their own chocolate bar using salt dough and then to think of a name for it and design a suitable wrapper. After 5 weeks of creativity the end results are fantastic, with the bars looking ‘good enough to eat’ and the imaginative names being beautifully illustrated on the wrappers. Our next challenge is to try and create one of the bars using real chocolate (and some other delicious ingredients!!!)

At viagra end of October we held our annual scavenger hunt which is always something the children look forward to.

They donned their wellies and set off in search of many and various items …even having to search for some lost characters whose photos the children had been given. Everyone enjoyed some sweets when they returned with their ‘’treasure’’. We finished with our now traditional chant ‘gimme a C, gimme a R gimme a E   etc spelling out Creavery and the kids went off on their well earned half term holiday.

The children are continuing to enjoy the weekly visits of our Spanish teacher Andrea (who actually comes from Colombia) and are learning the language through lots different activities. This term the children have been learning the parts of the body and the days of the week. Each lesson involves singing and games which are enjoyable ways of learning.

This year we were again visited by viagra Antrim Fire fighters.

The firemen helped us to think carefully about how to stay safe in our homes.

They told us about good characters and bad characters using large picture cards.

It was exciting when one fire fighter dressed up in his rescue equipment.

We were really happy when we went into the playground and were allowed to spray water at cones using the fire hoses.

They were very kind and left large goodie bags for us.  We can’t wait for them to come back again.
