This year 7 P1 children started and joined a class with P2 and P3, making 18 in total. The topics studied have been ‘Weather’ and ‘The Rescue Services’. In line with the Revised Curriculum a great deal of learning took place through structured play, (practical activities to enhance learning by encouraging creative thinking and social skills which the children understand to be playing).

December School Activities

During December 2007 the P1 and P2 children studied the topic of ‘Myself’. During this topic the children discovered just how special they were as they compared themselves to others and found their similarities and differences. The children also discussed how they had changed in looks and also in what they were able to do since they were babies. As part of the topic Ethan’s (a P2 child) Mum visited the class with his two younger brothers so that could have fist hand experience of a baby and toddler.

The children also talked about how to look after themselves and turned the house corner into a doctor’s surgery.

The children also had the opportunity to decorate the classroom and the Christmas tree.
